10th August - The Faculty was privileged to be visited by Yang Arif Dato Sri Talat Mahmood Bin Abdul Rashid Sarawak State Attorney General and YBhg Datu Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Bin Haji Zaidel, Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Sarawak.
Yang Arif Dato Sri Talat was not only a LLB graduate from the Faculty but was also for many years in various leadership roles on the Faculty’s academic ranks. It was an especially heartwarming moment for Prof Dr Jason Chuah, the Dean and Dr Izura Masdina, the Deputy Dean for Undergraduates, who hosted the meeting when Dato Sri when signing the Distinguished Visitors’ Book wrote “Great to be back in UM”. Once a UM product, always a UM product.
Dato Sri Talat Mahmood and Datu Dr Muhammad Abdullah discussed with the Dean and Dr Izura about the role of legal education in Malaysia, especially in Sarawak. The Dean shared with the esteemed visitors the exciting plans, the Faculty under his leadership is looking to introduce.
