UM RegTech Project

A multidisciplinary research project on regulatory technology located at the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya. It is a joint venture research project between the University of Malaya (UM), Quanta RegTech Capital (QRC) and Infinity Blockchain Holdings (IBH).

The UM RegTech Project aims to be the global leading RegTech research hub by conducting research, education and outreach programs related to RegTech, particularly on blockchain technologies.

The research project comprises of both academicians and students from four different faculties in UM, namely the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Economics and Administration, the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology and the Faculty of Business and Accountancy.

UM RegTech Project hopes to:

  1. Bring together academics, technologists, policymakers and members of the private sector for programs that explore blockchain’s impact on law, government and society;
  2. Set up a Centre specifically for blockchain research and create a community group of students and academicians in UM focused on blockchain-related initiatives;
  3. Collaborate with government, private entities, NGOs and educational institutions on the use and adoption of blockchain technologies.

UM RegTech Project welcomes partnership or collaboration opportunities with interested external parties to conduct research, education and outreach programs.

Malaysian Blockchain Regulatory Report.

The Faculty of Law, University of Malaya has been working with QRC on a year-long research project on blockchain technology and its concomitant regulations. The official report was launched on 5 July, 2018.
