Breaking Barriers and Building Bridges
The transformative UM-UI Cross Border Street Law Student Exchange Programme is back for 2023, marking yet another milestone in the collaborative efforts between Universiti Malaya and Universitas Indonesia. Since its inception in 2016, this joint initiative has been making a significant impact on communities by adopting a unique "Street Law"-based approach, with a strong emphasis on Community Legal Education.
At the core of this program's mission lies a dedication to empower not only the general public but especially the children, by providing them with essential knowledge and access to the law. Through interactive sessions and engaging activities, the program aims to equip individuals with the tools they need to understand and navigate legal rights and responsibilities effectively.
Over the years, the UM-UI Cross Border Street Law Student Exchange Programme has garnered tremendous success in raising awareness about legal matters within the communities it serves. By sharing practical legal information, the program seeks to bridge the gap between the law and those who may not have had the opportunity to learn about it before.
The collaboration and support extended by Universitas Indonesia have been pivotal in making this initiative a resounding success. With heartfelt gratitude, Universiti Malaya expresses appreciation for the warm hospitality shown to its students during their visit to Jakarta last week. Now, it is their privilege to reciprocate the gesture by hosting this leg of the program, continuing the mission of empowering communities through legal education.
The upcoming programme promises an array of exciting, enriching, and interactive activities, including engagement at selected Child Activity Centres. These activities will undoubtedly foster a deeper understanding of legal concepts while nurturing a sense of responsibility towards society.
As we look forward to this enriching exchange, the UM-UI Cross Border Street Law Student Exchange Programme exemplifies the spirit of collaboration and the power of education to bring about positive change. With participants including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Febby Mutiara Nelson, Pn Aisyah Mohd Soberi, and a group of dedicated student delegates, the program is poised to create a lasting impact on the communities it touches.
Stay tuned for updates and follow our journey of empowerment, as we embark on this transformative mission to make a difference in the lives of those we serve. Together, let's break barriers and build bridges towards a more informed and empowered society.
