Strengthening Legal Scholarship: Faculty of Law, UM Collaborates with UNNES on Comparative Arbitration Research

Faculty of Law Strengthens International Ties with Universitas Negeri Semarang, Indonesia through Collaborative Research

The Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaya, was honoured to host a distinguished delegation from Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), Indonesia, on Thursday, 21 August 2025. The delegation was  led by Professor  Dr. Benny Riyanto, Head of the Research and Community Service Institutions (LPPM), UNNES.

This visit signifies the advancement of an international research collaboration between Professor Dr. Benny and Honorary Professor Dr. Tie Fatt Hee, Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaya entitled “Pembaharuan Hukum Arbitrasi di Indonesia: Perbandingan Penyelesaian Sengketa Bisnis Internasional di Indonesia dan Malaysia” (Reforming Arbitration Law in Indonesia: A Comparative Study of International Business Dispute Resolution in Indonesia and Malaysia). Endorsed by UNNES, this project aspires to contribute to the progressive reform of arbitration law while enriching comparative legal scholarship between Indonesia and Malaysia.

The discussion on the research was then followed by a dialogue on future research in other domains of the law. The Deputy Dean of Research, Dr. Firdaus  from the Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaya, led the discussion. 

This engagement epitomises the Faculty of Law’s enduring commitment to cultivating meaningful global networks, fostering cross-border intellectual exchange, and advancing the frontiers of legal research for the benefit of academia and society at large.
