Strengthening Ties: Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaya Welcomes UNIMAS Delegation
The Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaya, was honored to receive a distinguished delegation from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) on 14th March 2025. The delegation was led by YBhg Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie, Chairman of the Board of Directors of UNIMAS, along with senior management members.
The visit was warmly received by our Dean, Prof. Dr. Jason Chuah FRSA, who engaged in fruitful discussions with the delegation on potential collaborations, particularly regarding the establishment of a Faculty of Law at UNIMAS. As an esteemed alumnus of the Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaya, YBhg Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie’s return to his alma mater added a special significance to the occasion.
The discussions revolved around strengthening academic ties, knowledge exchange, and strategic partnerships that would contribute to the advancement of legal education in Malaysia. The delegation was also joined by Prof. Dr. Fitri Suraya Mohamad Hapni Joblie, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International) of UNIMAS, who played a crucial role in coordinating this important visit.
We were also pleased to have Prof. Dr. Zamri Radzi, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs) of UM, and Dato’ AP Dr. Johan Shamsuddin, former Dean of the Faculty of Law, joining the discussions and sharing their insights.
