OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH POLICY UNIVERSITY MALAYA
Universiti Malaya is committed to complying with legislative requirements related to Occupational
Safety and Health (OSH) by integrating the culture and good practices of OSH into every activity.
We aim to ensure a safe and healthy work environment and to cultivate a strong culture of excellence in
safety through the OSH program, which include the participation of staff, students, contractors, visitors,
and other stakeholders.
To achieve this goal, we will:
- Implement proactive measures in strategic risk management and take comprehensive corrective
- action to reduce the risk of injury, occupational disease, health hazards, and property damage.
- Provide sufficient information and supervision to the University community to enable them to
- competently carry out their duties and responsibilities in OSH-related matters.
- Provide a safe and healthy working, teaching, and learning environment by establishing strategic
- objectives and a framework that prioritize OSH aspects.
- Involve the participation and consultation of all stakeholders to strengthen understanding and self-
- regulation in OSH-related matters.
- Ensure continuous improvement in the OSH management system to enhance OSH performance for
- the benefit of the University community.
- Expand the OSH communication mechanisms to the University community and stakeholders.
- Ensure emergency action plans are available and aligned with the latest emergency management
- practices.
- Provide the necessary resources and systems for effective OSH management.
- Undertake regular reviews of this Policy to ensure the University observes, implements, and fulfils all
- OSH requirements.
Maintaining high OSH standards requires the involvement and commitment of all staff and students to
comply with the University’s legal obligations, including standards and codes of practice relevant to the
University.
