The Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaya, the Centre for Biomedical Ethics, National University of Singapore and the Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit, Oxford University will set up a Southeast Asian Bioethics Network with support from the Wellcome Trust. This Network will widen and work with the bioethics community in Southeast Asia to establish a research agenda that brings to the forefront voices that are not well captured in current bioethics discourses.  We are pleased to invite applications from individuals who are interested to be the Network Lead for this new initiative and work with us to develop this network to build a vibrant, inclusive and collaborative bioethics community in Southeast Asia.

Responsibilities 

●      As Network Lead, you will act as the focal point for all the activities of the network

●      Specific duties will include:

  • Establish and maintain network plans and projects as well as all related documents for each project (e.g., communication plans, action logs, etc.) as needed
  • Provide intellectual contributions and policy input to the network
  • Lead and contribute to publications on selected research projects as appropriate
  • Oversee the organisation, scheduling and facilitating of meetings as appropriate
  • Oversee financial administration support, and monitor expenditure against relevant budgets in accordance with Universiti Malaya’s financial procedures and financial regulations
  • Ensure all project deliverables and commitments are made in a timely fashion
  • Organise and administer all activities and projects under network
  • Facilitate the effective flow of communications across all project stakeholders – both internal and external
  • Provide periodic updates to funders and stakeholders
  • Identify new opportunities (funding, partners) to extend the network
  • Other internal initiatives and tasks as identified

Qualifications and Skills Needed

●      Strong academic background in Bioethics as demonstrated through publications or other relevant professional experience
●      PhD or Masters degree in Bioethics or a relevant discipline (philosophy, sociology, social science, law, etc) with at least 5 years of relevant
        professional experience
●      Strong proficiency in English
●      Strong organizational skills with prior experience in project management, preferably at a regional or national level
●      Effective communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation skills
●      Experience working in a team environment under time and resource constraints
●      Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
 

Salary

We will offer a competitive salary package commensurate with qualifications and experience (up to Malaysian Ringgit 15,000 per month).
