Workshop on Decentralized Governance in Blockchain: Implications for Law and Society

On 8th November 2025, the Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaya, in collaboration with EMURGO and Cardano community representatives, organized an insightful workshop titled “Decentralized Governance in Blockchain: Implications for Law and Society.”

This workshop aimed to raise awareness among students and academicians on the growing relevance of blockchain governance. With the increasing integration of blockchain into legal, financial, and societal systems, the event offered a timely and critical exploration of how decentralized technologies can reshape governance structures and legal frameworks.

The session featured expert speakers from EMURGO and the Cardano blockchain ecosystem, including Murasaki Shunsuke, Zaf Chow, Antria Pansy, Jobe, Tim, and Kavinda Kariyapperuma. Participants were introduced to the core concepts of decentralized governance, followed by practical insights into its real-world applications. The day concluded with a hands-on activity designed to enhance participants’ understanding through active engagement.

The workshop successfully bridged the gap between emerging technology and legal scholarship, inspiring students to think critically about the intersection of law, technology, and societal transformation.
